Low carbon-pricing may not work
Carbon-pricing experiments are happening in the EU or in some US states as mention in a previous section about current progress.
The main difficulty of the carbon tax is how to introduce it into the economic system.
Some countries have already experimented that a gentle and smooth rise of the carbon tax doesn’t bring any behavioral change in terms of sources of energy. In this scenario, corporations tend to consider the carbon tax as a cost and they simply pass it on to their consumers, without investing in renewable energies. Yes, corporations pay the carbon penalties, but then what? No change have been recorded.
We’ll see when carbon penalties reach higher levels…
