Conspiracy theories target the financial system, especially the banks. They often claim that there is:
-a single culprit to the 2008 crisis: the greedy financial system.
-an obvious solution: regulate this corrupt financial system.
-a main responsible for prolonging the crisis: financial institutions, which are bribing the Congress in order not to regulate the system.
These assessments are oversimplified and essentially wrong.
As explained with the chain reaction of origin of the 2008 crisis and save the banks, banks did play a part in the crisis, but they are NOT the sole responsible of it.
Instead, it seems that the economy has entered a new era with people ready to postpone their spending very quickly. This new pattern of the economy shows a quickness to fumble and it could still trip on any obstacle at any moment.
But, many journalists or politicians repeat over and over that the banking system is the origin of the crisis. They do it probably because they don’t understand economics themselves. Nevertheless, the authorities has saved the banking system…
