Global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are increasing, despite a decline in emissions within the developed industrialized nations, including the United States, the European Union, and Japan.

A Few Details

The global increase in GHG emissions is largely driven by emerging economies like China and India, where the demand for fossil fuels to power plants and transportation is intensifying.[1: Figure 2.][2]

In the United States, GHG emissions are steadily decreasing, largely due to the shift from coal-fired power plants to natural gas facilities, as natural gas produces approximately half the CO2 emissions of coal for the same level of energy generation.[3: Figure 2.]
