Solar and wind are not cheap!

In Short

Solar and wind may rely on the free supply of endless energy: sunlight and wind. It doesn’t make them competitive with fossil fuels.

A Few Details

Solar and wind have major downsides that limit their competitiveness and prevent their widespread use. These downsides are linked to the intermittency of sunlight and wind, and to the need for raw materials to build solar panels and wind turbines.

A costly renewable-energy solution can’t just be imposed to replace fossil fuels. Such a simplistic “easy” mandate would hurt the poor more than the rich, as no system of financial compensations can “easily” be designed without disrupting the economy and hurting the poor once again.
